***DO NOT WORK ON THIS AT HOME unless you check with me first and get permission!*** Thanks!
Different Prompts to use if you need them:
It was a dark and cold night in October. I was walking down a moonlight path when…
I knew I wanted to be my favorite horror character for Halloween, but I didn’t expect the costume to come to life and that I would literally turn into the costume…
I walked into the classroom one day, only to be greeted by the ghost of my favorite historical or popular culture figure…
Everyone always talks about the old house at the end of the street, but I couldn’t believe what happened when I went inside…
My friends and I were having a sleepover when spooky things started happening every few minutes…
I was alone at school one night and went into the science lab, only to discover a mad scientist concocting a secret potion…
I decided the Jack-o-Lantern should have a spooky face this year, but I didn’t expect it to come to life…
My friends and I went on a hayride to enjoy the autumn leaves. We didn’t know we were really headed down a haunted trail…

Due:
We launched our Lucy Calkins Investigative Journalism unit this week and the students are really getting into recording the 5 W's and observing small moments of drama (positive drama with positive messages ;-). Many of the students are really excited about the possibility of doing a school newspaper, so I am including this as an authentic task correlating with the unit.
Due:
If you pass this, you do not have to retake it. If you fail it, you will study and retake it Thursday. :-)
Please, please, please make sure you properly enter in your name.

We will walk you through this and help you - this is to help you learn cultural notes as you develop your writing identity and to help you learn test taking skills. No stress - worst case scenario, you don't do well, we can conference and you can retake.
To complete Part 2, make sure you put in your first and last name. Make sure you finish and submit. It will NOT SAVE your answer. :-) You might want to write it on a Google doc and then copy/paste it in before submitting.
To complete Part 1 the Socrative Multiple Choice, click the link below. The room name is GILFILLAN5905.
Please be patient with any technology issues. We will help you with them. :-)
