Learning Target:  We are learning to synthesize our knowledge to enable us to convey what we have learned through a TED Talk.
I can determine what information should be included in an infographic.
I can utilize digital media to make a TED Talk about my topic of study.
Instructions: Create a TED Talk on the research that you have been conducting on one of the following topics:
Bullying
Climate Change
Freedom of Speech
Internet Safety
Plastic Pollution
Voting Rights
The TED Talk should include a specific topic that is stated clearly. Make sure to include your central ideas about your topic. Data should be supported with evidence and cited appropriately. Your TED talk needs to be engaging and demonstrate your personality. You need to speak clearly and slowly so that your audience can understand what you are saying. Your TED talk needs to be a minimum of five minutes.

Instructions: Create an infographic based on the research that you have been conducting on one of the following topics:

Internet Safety
Plastic Pollution
Voting Rights
The infographic should include a specific topic that is stated clearly. The type of infographic used needs to strongly support the information being presented. Objects in the infographic should support the data points to make it easy for the audience to understand. Data should be supported with evidence and cited appropriately.

My Textual Lineage Project

Standard: 8RL10- By the end of the year, read and comprehend literature, including stories, dramas, and poems, in the grades 6-8 text complexity band Proficiently, with scaffolding as needed at the high end of the range.

Learning Target: We are learning to  develop our personal reading identities based on the history of books and authors that we have read to help us choose books.


Success Criteria: 
I can identify my favorite books over the years
I can explain why these books were my favorite
I can create a textual lineage that reflects particular authors and books that have impacted me deeply.

Instructions: 
1.   Students are to brainstorm about books and authors that they remember reading. The books can be books that they read independently, someone read to them, or that they have read with others.
2. Students will draw out a timeline on a sheet of paper.
3. Students will divide and label the timeline into ages, grades, time periods.
4. Students will draw, write, or print the names of the books that were read at each time period.
