9/10 Fiction Narrative/Story Writing in Google Classroom

9/10 Fiction Narrative/Story Writing

Learning Target:
I can write a complete fictional short story within a given time period.

Success Criteria:
I can write a narrative with a beginning, middle, and end.
I can use transition words to tell what happened in order.
I can ‘show’ what happened in my story rather than just tell.
I can develop realistic characters
I can have my characters use dialogue

Introduction/Connection:
We have been using personal experiences, small moments, and stories we wish existed to generate ideas for fiction writing.  It is now time to use those ideas to create a fictional story.

DIRECT INSTRUCTION:
Students! You have spent a lot of time generating fictional ideas from many different sources.  It is now time to expand on those ideas to create a full story.  Students will choose 1 of their ideas and create a fictional short story.  This story should be completed in 1 class period.

If you don’t want to use one of your ideas you can write your narrative based on the following prompt: Write a story about an unusually weird day at school.

You will know that you have completed the assignment when you have met the above criteria!
Have fun with your characters and with your scenes!
BE READY TO USE THE ENTIRE PERIOD TO WRITE AND SUBMIT YOUR NARRATIVES. THE ONLY CRITERIA OR RUBRIC IS SHOWN ABOVE (RIGHT HERE ON THIS POST)

NO Q (question) AND A (answer) TODAY! YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN... YOU'VE GOT THIS! YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN TELL YOUR STORIES!

BLOOM WHERE YOU ARE PLANTED.

*****I am excited to read your stories!****
